Full description

On this exclusive tour you will trace the footsteps of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso, in Barcelona Old Town. Picasso’s family moved to the city in 1895 after the death of his little sister, and this is where he became an art student. Learn about the life and works of the co-founder of the Cubist movement.

During the 2-hour tour you will explore the Gothic Quarter on a quest to discover the places that inspired some of Picasso’s sketches and paintings. One of such sights will be the Llotja building (which today houses Reial Academia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi) at Passeig de Isabel II, where Picasso studied and his father was a teacher of art. Follow your Private Guide through the maze of narrow streets, pass by the Basilica of Saint Maria del Mar, and see the Picasso Museum.

Further on, you will pass by the medieval square Plaça de Sant Jaume, featuring Palau de la Generalitat and the Town Hall. At the nearby Carrer d’ Avinyo, Picasso met and visited prostitute women, who later became the inspiration for the masterpiece The Young Ladies of Avignon. You will also see Carrer dels Escudellers, where he had his studio in 1899. Lastly, you will walk to the coastal boulevard Passeig de Colom, where Picasso visited his first great love and first wife, the Russian ballerina Olga Khokhlova.

Choose the 3,5-hour option to visit Picasso Museum with skip-the-line tickets that let you fast track the queue. The museum examines the artist’s close relationship with Barcelona and the development of his artistic maturity. Step inside to see more than 3,500 sketches and paintings, many of which were donated by the artist himself, with highlights including The First Society (1896), Science and Charity (1897), and the Roofs of Barcelona (1903).
