Full description

Discover the many talents of Leonardo da Vinci, from painting to innovation and urban planning, as you explore the historic streets of Milan’s Old Town. This original da Vinci tour will take you back in time to Renaissance Italy, following the steps of Leonardo in Milan where he produced some of his greatest works. Discover the legacy of the archetypal man of Renaissance!

Choose the 2-hour option to see Milan through the eyes of Leonardo da Vinci. Your walking tour will begin with an introduction to the four pillars of Leonardo’s virtuosity: painting, architecture, sculpture, and engineering, as you will see the 19th century Leonardo Monument by Pietro Magni outside the famous La Scala Opera House. Your Private Guide will explain the symbolism behind the statues of da Vinci and his pupils and tell you about the legacy left behind by this renowned painter, engineer and innovator.

Wandering around Milan, you will discover many traces of Leonardo’s genius. Did you know that he solved some of the engineering problems that occurred during the construction of Duomo di Milano? Or that the beautiful frescoes in Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, also known as the Sistine Chapel of Milan, were painted by Leonardo’s students? The tour will end in front of Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to original The Last Supper. Nearby are the restored da Vinci vineyards, where you can order a glass of original Leonardo wine (at your own expense).

Choose the 3,5-hour option to see Leonardo’s works in the Ambrosian Library (Pinacoteca Ambrosiana). This extended tour includes skip-the-line tickets to this secret gem of Milan. The Ambrosian Library displays a rotating selection of drawings from Leonardo’s notebook Codex Atlanticus along with his original drawings, writings, doodles and designs. It is a rare chance to learn about his interest in mathematics, weaponry, flight, botany and musical instruments. This beautiful library also houses several disputed Leonardos, such as Portrait of Isabella d’Este, as well as works by masters like Caravaggio, Raphael and Titian.

Choose the 4,5-hour option to learn more about da Vinci with a guided tour of the Leonardo3 Museum. With skip-the-line tickets you can save time and go in without waiting at the ticket office. Enjoy the interactive exhibits of working models of Leonardo’s machines and inventions, and admire the digital restorations of his paintings and drawings. It will be a fun and educational experience for both adults and children!
